Telementoring

My co-facilitator, Mair, came up with the title Telementoring Course to describe a six month course we want to offer through teleconference calls. I think it is just dandy to imagine sitting at home in my jamies and speaking with folks all over the world and offering instruction in my passion, Nonviolent Communication. The mentoring part is that we want to mentor folks who either want to teach NVC or want to bring it to a community or group and are committed to supporting like minded folks. Along with the calls, there are one-on-one coaching sessions and buddy calls. We will also be setting up a ning for opportunities of discussions, posts and sharing of events, ideas and training. This also is meaningful to me because I am interested in building community. I also believe it is helpful for the folks in the community to have similar values. You can contact me at revdupcc@juno.com for more details of the program which starts January 11th 6-9 p.m. (PT). We are offering two FREE sample calls on January 4 and January 11th from noon to 1 p.m. This is an invitation to join FREE SAMPLE CALLS .Click to register at this link: http://bit.ly/SampleCall

Here's the surprise tree we got at Costco. Surprise because we brought it home still wrapped up in the original cords. We did this to make it easier to transport and were delighted with our baby tree. It was ours and we didn't care what it looked like.

Finding Relief

I've been listening to a teleconference site that had 80 illuminaries giving talks on various subjects. One is this fellow offering "The Sedona Method", which I had never heard of before. Anyone else? It's a pretty simple method about letting go - letting go of old beliefs that are no longer serving us. I was a little skeptical, but hey, anything that helps bring some internal peace or relief of stress is worth exploring to me.
My favorite way, of course, to find relief is to play tennis every day. Looking out my office window I notice dark blue clouds dotting the sky in between the tree branches - quite beautiful. The impending possibility of rain however is a conflict. We need the rain, but I wish it could somehow miss the tennis courts. They seem to take forever to dry off. I seem fortunate to live in an area that stays relatively dry. Looking forward to my tennis game tomorrow....

What's important?

Ever notice how what's so important in one moment, becomes a blip on your screen at another moment? I think what creates this ever changing scale of importance is the story we are telling ourselves. I am surprised how I can feel spacious and relaxed as I travel in my car one time and the next I am uptight and yelling at everyone to get out of my way... don't they know who I am? When I'm telling myself I am late and I have to get there right now... tension, clenched teeth, bad karma!!! On the other hand, if I hear, "relax you're early", I sense a calmness in my body and an easy pace in my driving and attitude. Oh to remember this at the time I am uptight and simply change my story. Kinda like changing the radio station when I am not enjoying what I am hearing and keep searching until I hear something that is more positive or pleasant. Mostly if I can remember to say the word "compassion" it is a touchstone for me to come present and be at choice. Anyone else have a way you like to remind yourself of what I can your "humanness"?

Restorative Circles

Restorative Circles is a new community supported way to resolve conflicts. If we believe only the folks involved in the offense are affected, maybe we need to look again. As a community we can all take responsibility for not only looking at the effects but deal with the cause and help each other. Want to know more???

Forgot Your Password?

Anyone else frustrated with forgetting your password? Now there are indicators to help us know if our password is weak or strong. Great, but now that I have it with upper case and lower case and underscores and numbers, I can't remember the darn thing. So then you click the indicator, at your site, to ask for your password, then you are sent a link to create a new one!!!! Wow, there has to be a better stratergy for security. Well I feel better venting now. Anyone have a solution you'd like to share?

Leaving, but not on a jet plane

Gave my notice to retire from the Center in May 2010. Wow, you'd think I told folks I was going to the moon!!! I guess most people see their "jobs" as the main focus in their lives. Since I have been semi-retired for the last 10 years (my job as Youth & Family Ministries' Director is only part time), I have not seen letting it go as actually freeing up a lot of time. I see it more as giving me freedom and flexibility. Ready for more of that. Life is joyful and free. I will be giving the Wednesday night talk at the Center on Mastering the Mystery! Appropriate for Halloween season, don't cha think?

So much Happening

I forgot all about the Wellness Fair I am involved in on Oct. 17th in Sebastopol at the Masonic hall from 11-5. It's a holistic wellness fair with 80 presenters. NVC is one of those presenters. I will have an Empathy Bowl to demonstrate how people can empty their bowls of pain, worry and stress with a couple of questions. What else would people like to see? I listened to Dr. Joe Dispenza today and really enjoyed his views on how we can change our thoughts and change our life. Sound familiar. It was refreshing to hear it in a different form and had a lot of brain evidence and education of how our wire our brains and can change that wiring. Pretty Cool.

What am I doing?

Wow, this is my first post on my newly created blog. I have been looking at so many venues to share my passion. What is that passion, you may be asking? For me it is the ease and freedom I now have in having tools to communicate. To communicate, not only effectively, but with a sense of confidence and enjoyment, even when people are upset and saying things that may be hard for me to hear. How could I enjoy that? I don't take it personally. I know they are telling me about what is going on in their inner world. They are just saying it in words that sound like blaming, criticism and judging. I have a wonderful technilogical tool to translate those words. I put on my giraffe ears and become an empathy detective. What is she talking about, you might be saying. More later about the giraffe ears. What I am detecting is what is important to this person and what are they trying to tell me they long or yearn for. It might just be peace of mind or fairness or cooperation. Something that is common to all human beings. Time for my tennis game.... more later. Carol
